I was doing some research on the Gabriel Method and came across your blog. I am also a Mom who has had many a struggle with weight loss trying the latest tricks and fad diets to even medical weight loss programs only to gain it back. I was wondering how your progress is going and if you would recommend this. Also from what I am finding and getting a “feel” for is that his approach is more to a change of life style in eating habits (ie: organcis and whole foods and eating several times through out the day vs. the old three squares) I am looking into purchasing the book but I see the website also has other materials as well. Are you finding adequate information within the book and do you have the additional materials and find them to be a valuable resource as well? Any information you can provide I would greatly appreciate. I am also a (beginning) blogger myself. I am looking forward to following yours.

Hi Terie, I’m so glad you stopped by.

You know, I wish I could say that I have had great success with the Gabriel Method and that it is a for sure thing, but I have just started out and until now have not fully committed.

With that said, I am very confident that this is going to work for me. I feel like after reading the book and learning more about this way of living that this is a really good fit for me and a lifestyle that I can get behind and sustain going forward. Like you mentioned, this is a lifestyle change not a diet and not even simply a new way of eating (although that is a big part of it). For me it is really an entire mental shift, a new way of thinking about myself and my body and the way I take care of myself.

As far as other materials go, there is a visualization audio file that should be downloaded from the website. Basically after you buy the book it will point you to where you can download the mp3 files. You can then use an mp3 player or burn it to CD. I think that this is a crucial part of the program. It is really the base for overcoming the mental part of why we are still suffering with weight issues and although the visualization can be done without the audio file, I would think that without it you would be putting yourself at a huge disadvantage. I listen while going to sleep (the recommended time) and it puts me right to sleep and I sleep great. I find that ear buds work best for comfortable sleeping positions.

The book is really informative and detailed in explaining how everything works and then lays out step by step what you need to do, breaking it down by month. So it starts out with a few steps that you turn into habits the first month and then adds a few more for the next three months until everything you need to do is habit and just how you live your life. My bet is that this is when things really start to kick in.

I am very impatient and always need to remind myself that this is not a quick fix, but a way for me to heal and become the person I want to be.

I would encourage you to buy the book and give it a go if it at all seems like a good fit for you.

Please keep checking back in and let me know your blog address so that i can check it out. I find blogging to be very therapeutic and freeing, I hope you find it as rewarding. Good Luck!
